Triggers #
A trigger starts your Zap when something happens in eCardWidget. After the trigger, you add the action(s) you want to run.
| Trigger | Starts your Zap when… |
|---|---|
| New eCard Sent via Email | an eCard is emailed from your account |
| New Team Member | someone is added to your directory |
| Updated Team Member | a directory member's details change |
| Deactivated Team Member | a member is deactivated |
Tip: Triggers check for new activity every few minutes. While you're building the Zap, use the Test button to pull in a recent example so you can map the fields.
New eCard Sent via Email #
Starts your Zap whenever an eCard is sent by email from your account.
Information you can use in later steps: who it was sent to (name and email), who it was from (name and email), the personal message, the language, when it was sent (and, if scheduled, when it's due to go out), and whether it's been opened yet.
A common use: send this to a Google Sheet or Slack channel so you have a running log of every eCard.
Team Member triggers #
New Team Member, Updated Team Member, and Deactivated Team Member all give you the same person's details.
- New Team Member — when someone is added to your directory.
- Updated Team Member — when a member's details actually change. (Re-syncing the same details with no real change won't trigger it.) You also get a list of what changed.
- Deactivated Team Member — when a member is deactivated (for example, during offboarding).
Information you can use in later steps: the person's name, email, employee/external ID, job title, manager, department(s), birthday, anniversary/hire date, profile image, and whether they're active — plus, on updates, what changed and where the change came from.
Note: For privacy, birthdays are stored without the year (you'll see a placeholder year of 1800) — only the month and day matter.
Heads-up: A one-time bulk upload using the in-app spreadsheet importer does not start these triggers. Use the importer for the initial load, then let Zapier handle ongoing changes.
